Affordable Personal Shoppers for Busy Nurses
Need a new interview outfit? Need an entire closet make-over but can’t quite find the time between making dinner for 5 and finishing your progress notes? Want a new stunning dress for the upcoming Holiday party, but at a complete loss because last time you looked at a fashion magazine it must have been 2004?
Being anything but a fashionista myself, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I discovered Stitch Fix. Stitch Fix is an online personal shopper start-up company. You develop a “style profile” and they pick out clothes and mail them to you. Yes, you heard me right…
…THEY DO YOUR SHOPPING FOR YOU.
I can hear a sigh of relief from my fellow nurses. It’s hard enough staying up-to-date with all the latest neuroscience discoveries and pharmaceuticles, let alone find time to go shopping. Who doesn’t like to look presentable, let alone, fashionable, at work or on a date after a long week of night shifts? And, for all those lucky ones out there who get to wear scrubs instead of business professional, I’m sure you would still like a cute girls-night-out outfit.
The Stitch Fix process is really simple and kind of fun. First you create an account and fill out a bunch of questions about your personal preferences to start a “style profile.” You can also create a Stitch Fix Pinterest board and link it to your account so as to provide examples of clothes you particularly like. Then, the personal stylists at Stitch Fix mail you 5 different clothing/accessory items and you get to try on everything at home. In the end, you purchase what you want to keep, send back what you don’t (no shipping fee!), and pay a $20 styling fee. The $20 styling fee is subtracted from your total order, and if you purchase everything, you get a 25% discount.
I’m telling you, this is the kind of innovative, creative destruction we need to see in the healthcare industry. This is fantastic. Has anyone tried Stitch Fix before? Any good or bad results? I don’t know about you guys, but I am adding this to my birthday wish list.
